The meeting, taking place in Coslada this week, marks the first transnational working session of a project that will span two academic years. Approximately 20 representatives from educational centers and entities in Spain, Belgium, France, and Italy are participating in this initial visit, which combines coordination sessions, training, and the exchange of experiences.
Councilor Iván López expressed his conviction in the value of the Service-Learning model, highlighting that Coslada is a benchmark due to its accumulated experience. He also recalled that the municipality will host the State Meeting of the ApS Network in December.
Coslada is involved in this initiative through its Municipal Office for Service-Learning, which connects educational centers with the associative and social fabric of the municipality, as part of an agreement with the Spanish Network for Service-Learning. The CEIP El Olivo in Coslada and IES Miguel Catalán are participating as partners, contributing their experience. A visit to IES Vallecas I in Madrid is also planned.
Service-Learning (ApS) combines curricular content with real community service, fostering values such as solidarity and civic commitment. A key objective of the project is to extend this methodology to countries like France, Italy, and Belgium, where its implementation is still limited.
Participating centers include IES Alonso Quesada (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), CEIP El Olivo (Coslada), IES Vallecas I (Madrid), and Colegio Sagrado Corazón (Pamplona), along with entities from Belgium, France, and Italy and the Spanish Network for Service-Learning.
Among the expected outcomes are the development of a practical European guide to Service-Learning, built from the experiences gained during the project, and the organization of national dissemination actions and conferences in France and Belgium.
