This Sunday, April 12, Torrejón de Ardoz will host the second leg of the I Cross Challenge “El Olivar”, a sporting event promoting citizen participation and athletics in the town.

The race will be held at the El Olivar field, located next to Jerónimo Suñol Street, at the corner of Mateo Inurria. This event offers a new opportunity for runners of all levels, from amateurs to experienced athletes, to test their endurance on a natural cross-country circuit. The initiative is part of the activities scheduled for Torrejón de Ardoz's designation as European City of Sport 2026.

"This second scoring event comes at a time when the municipality is hosting numerous top-level events and undertaking investments in new facilities and the improvement of existing ones."

Alejandro Navarro · Mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz
The Mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, Alejandro Navarro, highlighted the importance of this event within the city's ambitious sports calendar. The event is organized by Timing Lap, Club Runners Torrejón, and Club Atletismo Torrejón de Ardoz, with the collaboration of the Torrejón City Council and the Community of Madrid.
This cross-country race in El Olivar represents the second of three events that make up the Torrejón de Ardoz Cross Challenge circuit. Following the first race held on February 22, this April edition precedes a third and final race scheduled for November 2026. The organization reminded that cross-country races are characterized by taking place on non-urban natural terrains, with potential inclines and environmental obstacles. On this occasion, the distance will be greater than in the first race, adding an extra challenge for participants.
One of the main attractions of the event is its accessibility, with free registration for most categories. Only senior and veteran runners will need to pay 6 euros to cover the cost of the timing chip. Interested individuals could register until April 9 at 2:00 PM through the platforms www.inscripcionesdeportivas.com and www.timinglap.com. Bib collection took place at CD Joaquín Blume on April 10 (from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM) and April 11 (from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM).
The sports day will begin at 10:15 AM with races for veterans and seniors, both male and female, covering an approximate distance of 8,600 meters. The awards ceremony for these categories is scheduled for 11:20 AM. Subsequently, races for youth and grassroots categories will take place, with distances adapted to each age group, concluding with the awards ceremony at 12:40 PM for the youth, cadet, infant, alevín, and benjamín categories.
