The event took place at 7:13 PM this Tuesday on Salvador Allende Street, as reported by 112 Comunidad de Madrid. The Community of Madrid Emergency Medical Service (SUMMA 112) responded to the scene to assist the victim, who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury.
After being stabilized by emergency teams, the woman was rushed to Hospital 12 de Octubre, where she remains in critical condition. The Local Police of Leganés has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
This incident adds to a concerning statistic in Leganés. The same Salvador Allende Street was the site of another pedestrian accident on March 14, when a 5-year-old child was seriously injured after being hit by an SUV while crossing a crosswalk on a bicycle.
The municipality has recorded a total of 30 pedestrian accidents over the past fifteen months, with 23 incidents in 2025 and seven in the first three months of 2026. These accidents have resulted in 13 injuries and one fatality in the city.
In response to this situation, the Leganés City Council Plenary has agreed to implement safety measures, such as installing LED lighting on the ground at crosswalks regulated by traffic lights, aiming to improve visibility and prevent future incidents.
