What seemed unthinkable in late January, when the team was in seventeenth place with only a one-point lead over the relegation zone, has become a reality. Getafe's run in the last two months has been spectacular, solidifying their ascent in the standings.
The numbers support this impressive trajectory. The recent 2-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao was their sixth win in the last eight matches, translating to 18 out of a possible 24 points. This performance has allowed the club to climb nine places in the table, reaching eighth position at the end of the thirtieth matchday.
“"We must value what this team is doing because it is extremely difficult. We are always ambitious. The players know my mentality, whatever the situation, and our goal must always be to go out and win and get points."
With 41 points, survival is virtually guaranteed, allowing 'Geta' to dream of a return to Europe. Currently, only three points separate them from Celta, who hold sixth place, and four from Betis, in fifth position.
Coach José Bordalás, far from being carried away by euphoria, maintains caution and focuses on taking it "game by game". He highlighted the commitment and effort of his players, describing their performance as "incredible" and the results as "very good against amazing teams".
