The Las Rozas City Council, through its Department of Social Services, has launched the campaign 'Celiac Disease, much more than not eating' to raise public awareness about this condition, with activities in health centers, schools, and local events.

This initiative stems from an agreement signed between the Council and the Madrid Celiac and Gluten Sensitive Association. The goal is to carry out various awareness activities in key areas such as education, health, catering, and the general population.
Scheduled actions include informative talks at the municipality's health centers. The first session will take place on Wednesday, April 15, with a second planned for May 13 at the La Marazuela health center. These talks will be open to the public to provide detailed information about celiac disease.
Additionally, the campaign includes specific training for professionals working in schools, such as cooks, playground supervisors, and waiters. Playful workshops and games adapted for different age groups will also be offered to help schoolchildren acquire basic knowledge about celiac disease and its essential care. These activities will be held at the Café Teatro de La Marazuela.
As part of the awareness efforts, the Department has proposed that schools offer a gluten-free menu for all students on Monday, May 18. During the upcoming San José Obrero Festivities in Las Matas, all popular meals served by the City Council will be gluten-free. Furthermore, Family Day, to be celebrated on May 16 at Finca de El Pilar, will include games and activities to raise awareness among families.
Finally, the Las Rozas City Council is working on granting subsidies to local catering establishments. These grants aim to facilitate the adaptation of kitchens and menus to offer gluten-free options to their customers.
