Eight high school students from various autonomous communities have begun their scientific training at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) through the Acércate program.

This initiative is part of the CNIC-Joven Training Plan, which aims to identify and nurture emerging talent from an early age. The main goal is to build a foundation of future researchers specialized in the study of the cardiovascular system.
The selected participants stand out for their excellent academic records and previous experience in scientific competitions and educational enrichment programs. Coming from regions such as Galicia, Extremadura, Madrid, Castilla y León, and the Valencian Community, the students are joining the center to gain first-hand knowledge of daily work in a highly specialized environment.
The program also featured a winner of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), who shared his experience in international competitions and his work in molecular biology with the students.
Since its inception, the CNIC-Joven pathway has facilitated the participation of 144 students, offering them a gateway to the world of biomedical research that spans from high school to the doctoral level, with the support of the Pro CNIC Foundation.
