The Pedrezuela City Council has approved a 4% reduction in the waste collection and cleaning fee during a plenary session, a decision coinciding with the resignation of Juan de la Cruz Pacha Conde, the Finance Councillor, who steps down after ensuring the municipality's financial stability.

The plenary session held on March 26 in Pedrezuela saw two significant announcements. Firstly, a 4% decrease in the waste collection and cleaning fee was approved. Secondly, Juan de la Cruz Pacha Conde, the councillor for Finance, Procurement, Collection, Transparency, and Heritage, submitted his resignation.

"That mission is accomplished. I leave behind a healthier local Treasury, with stabilized budgetary management."

According to Pacha Conde, his resignation aims to inject new momentum into the political project, having achieved his primary mandate: to provide the Pedrezuela City Council with a robust and rigorous financial structure, reversing its initial deficit. He emphasized that tasks related to expenditure control and public spending efficiency have been completed, laying the budgetary foundations for the viability of municipal services.
The reduction in the waste fee, set to take effect in 2027, received support from all municipal groups, with the exception of Vox's abstention. This measure comes amid an improving economic climate, as evidenced by the 2025 budget settlement, which showed a slight surplus of approximately 120,000 euros from a total budget of 7,465,585 euros.
Additionally, the mayor reported on an agreement reached with the Mancomunidad Valle Norte del Lozoya, responsible for waste collection. This pact resolves a dispute over the 2023 and 2024 fees, which the City Council had refused to pay due to an incorrect calculation method. The initial amounts of 185,000 euros for 2023 and 215,000 euros for 2024 have been readjusted to 168,000 euros for each year, resulting in savings of about 64,000 euros. The payment will be deferred over four fiscal years, with annual installments of 85,000 euros.
