Next Saturday, Tres Cantos will celebrate World Autism Awareness Day with a four-kilometer walk through Parque Central and an inclusive sports day at Plaza de Antonio Gala, aiming for the participation of all residents.
The municipality of Tres Cantos is preparing to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day with a dual proposal combining physical activity, community, and awareness. The initiatives, promoted by the Department of Family and Equality and the City Council's Disability Area, are designed so that people of all ages and physical conditions can join.
The day will begin at 11 AM in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the starting point for the Walk for Autism. Participants will cover four kilometers through Parque Central until they reach Plaza de Antonio Gala. Families, children, and pets are encouraged to participate, and attendees are suggested to wear a blue shirt, the international color symbolizing autism.
Once in Plaza de Antonio Gala, and until 2 PM, the Inclusive Sports Day will take place. This activity is designed to integrate people with and without disabilities, using sports as a true meeting point. Various adapted sports modalities will be offered, along with two specific circuits: one for visually impaired individuals and another for those with reduced mobility, aiming to foster empathy by experiencing daily challenges.
Additionally, younger children will have their own space with a face-painting area. The event will also feature several disability associations, who will inform about their work and offer resources to families in need, facilitating direct contact and support.
Participation in both activities is free and open to all, with no prior registration required. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and if possible, a blue shirt to show collective support for people with autism and their families.
