This proposal, coinciding with the commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day, aims to go beyond traditional school activities. The day has been conceived as a circuit of cooperative challenges that will transform the institute into a space for practical and reflective learning.
The organization of the Olympics is the result of collaboration between the school's Physical Education Department and Guidance Department, underscoring a cross-cutting commitment to awareness and integration. During the event, different areas of the institute will become stations with short challenges, lasting two to three minutes, designed to foster cooperation and reflection among participants.
The activity is primarily aimed at students from 1st to 4th year of ESO, with active participation from Bachillerato students, who will act as guides and support for their younger peers. This peer-learning approach seeks to reinforce a sense of belonging and commitment to inclusion throughout the educational community. At the end of the day, a raffle for breakfasts and symbolic prizes will be held to recognize collective effort.
In addition to the cooperative challenges, the school's lobby will host an exhibition of artistic works titled 'Portraits of My Identity'. Each student has created a representation of their own face, with the aim of expressing their personal story and highlighting the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives that enrich the classrooms. This space will become a point for visualizing diversity for the entire community.
The initiative by IES Gonzalo Torrente Ballester aligns with the conviction that inclusion is built through daily actions and practical experiences. By holding these Olympics, the school not only seeks to inform about autism and diversity but also invites its students to live and reflect on the meaning of participation, collaboration, and respect from a real and experiential perspective.
