The Colmenar Viejo City Council has organized the First Dog Family Day, a free and pioneering event to be held on Sunday, April 19, at 'El Mirador' Park, highlighting the importance of dogs in families.

The town of Colmenar Viejo is preparing for a special day dedicated to dogs and their families. On Sunday, April 19, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, 'El Mirador' Park will host the First Dog Family Day, an initiative that seeks to celebrate the bond between canines and their owners, recognizing them as essential members of the household.
This event, developed in collaboration with the specialized company Eventos Guau, stands out for its inclusive approach, moving away from traditional beauty or breed competitions. The main objective is to value the stories of loyalty and affection that dogs bring to the municipality's families, promoting coexistence and respect.

"This gathering is born with a fully inclusive spirit. It is not a beauty contest or a competition, but a space for enjoyment and respect for all residents, from the youngest to our elders. We invite all families with dogs to share their stories and celebrate the unique bond that unites them with their four-legged companions."

The highlight of the day will be the 'Family Parade,' a safe runway where participants can showcase their bond with their pets. Five symbolic mentions have been established to reward different aspects of canine life: 'Wisdom' for the oldest dogs, 'Ambassador of Joy' for the most vital, 'Small Great Companion' for smaller dogs, 'Big Heart' for large breeds, and 'Two Peas in a Pod' for human-dog pairs with the greatest resemblance or harmony. Each category will receive a prize and an official diploma from the City Council.
In addition to the parade, the event will feature parallel activities such as a professional photo booth and games led by animal behavior experts. The safety and well-being of the dogs are a priority, so there will be a registered veterinarian and a team of three canine behavior instructors to ensure a positive and relaxed environment.
Participation is limited to families registered in Colmenar Viejo and requires prior registration. A specific appointment time will be assigned to avoid waiting and control attendance. Attendees will receive a 'Welcome pack' with gifts. It is essential to present the animal's health card or passport for chip reading and vaccine verification. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, and participation of aggressive dogs or females in heat will not be allowed, ensuring harmonious coexistence.
