The Colmenar Viejo City Council has organized Dog Family Day, an event to be held on April 19 at El Mirador Park to highlight the importance of dogs in the lives of residents.

The event, taking place between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, is aimed at residents of the municipality who own dogs and seeks to make visible the connection between people and their pets, emphasizing their contribution to communication, affection, and daily routines.
The main activity will be the 'Family Parade,' a catwalk where participants can introduce their dogs and share their stories. During this parade, symbolic recognitions will be awarded in five categories, each with a prize and an official diploma from the City Council.

Dog Family Day in Colmenar Viejo is conceived as a space for coexistence open to all ages. The initiative aims to give visibility to the relationship between people and dogs, highlighting their role in communication, affection, and daily life.

Categories include 'Wisdom' for the oldest dogs, 'Ambassador of Joy' for the most active, 'Small Great Companion' for smaller dogs, 'Big Heart' for larger dogs, and 'Two Peas in a Pod' for the person-dog pair with the greatest affinity.
In addition to the parade, the program includes a professional photocall and various guided activities focused on play and coexistence. The organization has planned a continuous flow for the day to minimize waiting times. To ensure the well-being of the animals, the event will feature a collegiate veterinarian and a team of canine behavior instructors.
Interested families must register their dogs in advance through the enabled website or via the QR code provided by the organization. This initiative by the City Council aims to create a meeting point centered around dogs as part of families, fostering coexistence and recognizing their role in the daily life of Colmenar Viejo.
