The city of Alcobendas has taken a significant step in urban mobility with the implementation of 78 new electric vehicle charging points, resulting from a collaboration between the City Council and Iberdrola | bp pulse.

This initiative, presented on April 7, 2026, aims to facilitate the use of electric vehicles for residents and workers, positioning Alcobendas as a model of sustainability and energy efficiency at a national level. The network, comprising 26 stations strategically distributed across the city's four districts, ensures that users have access to fast-charging options everywhere.
The infrastructure includes 52 ultra-fast 100 kW charging points, capable of adding approximately 100 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes, ideal for quick errands. Additionally, 22 kW points have been installed for longer charging sessions, optimizing extended parking. This combination of power outputs offers flexibility and adapts to the diverse needs of drivers.
The stations have been located in main arteries and areas of high economic activity, such as Paseo de la Chopera and Avenida de España, as well as key business areas like Avenida de Europa and near the A-1 highway. This strategic distribution not only benefits residents but also transforms Alcobendas into a crucial logistical point for professionals commuting to one of the country's main business hubs.

"Alcobendas becomes a benchmark city for electric mobility and adds 78 new charging points, available to residents, workers, and clients of thousands of companies located in our city."

Rocío García Alcántara · Mayor of Alcobendas
During the inauguration, Mayor Rocío García Alcántara, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Planning and Environment, Jesús Montero, emphasized the local government's commitment to a healthier environment and the construction of a "cleaner, more sustainable, and healthier city of the future." For his part, Pablo Pirles, General Director of Iberdrola | bp pulse, highlighted public-private collaboration as a driver of progress, noting that all supplied energy is 100% renewable, ensuring a complete decarbonization process.
The charging system has been designed to be interoperable and accessible 24 hours a day, facilitating its use for all users, regardless of their operator or digital proficiency. This initiative removes one of the main obstacles to electric vehicle adoption, boosting the energy transition in Spain and laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and environmentally conscious urban model.
