Under the slogan 'Freedom is Celebrated', the schedule blends historical tradition with shows and music for all ages, filling the streets with a festive atmosphere for over a week.
The core of the celebrations revolves around the reenactment of the May 2nd 1808 uprising, a pivotal event in Spanish history. The main institutional act, a tribute to the Heroes of Independence, will take place on May 2nd in the Plaza del Pradillo, with participation from local associations, the Municipal Police, and Civil Protection.
On the same day, ceremonies such as the laying of laurel wreaths at various historical sites and the presentation of the Mostoleños Awards 2026 will be held. Other traditional activities include the Lantern Parade, customary scenes, and a float competition.
The musical lineup is a major draw, featuring a concert by David Otero, who will close the festivities on May 3rd. Other notable events include 'La Noche Pop/Rock' with bands like La Pegatina and Darwin, and the 'Móstoles Platinum Urban' party with artists such as La Zowi and Dr. Bellido. Additionally, there will be DJ sessions and five orchestras at the Finca Liana fairgrounds, aiming to attract both young people and families.
The official start of the festivities will be on April 29th with the traditional 'chupinazo' (opening rocket) from the Town Hall balcony, followed by a fireworks display. The Goyesco Market, featuring over 140 craft and gastronomy stalls, and the Goyesco Parade of Giants and Big-Heads, will be other highlights in the historic center.
With inclusivity in mind, family activities such as 'Cantajuego: Megahits' have been scheduled, and noise-free hours will be implemented at the fairgrounds and quiet sections in some parades for individuals with sensory hypersensitivity. The cultural program is rounded out with an exhibition of Meninas throughout the municipality and open days at the Municipal Archive.
“"These festivities allow us to remember the spirit of unity and commitment of the city, asserting Móstoles' historical role."
