Madrid Metro will deploy a special operation for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, increasing service by up to 250% on lines 4, 5, and 8, and introducing five free EMT shuttle buses and 50,000 commemorative cards.

Metro service will see an increase of up to 250% on lines 4, 5, and 8 during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, held from September 11 to 13. This special public transport operation, presented by the Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, aims to establish the venue as the best publicly connected circuit globally.
The Community of Madrid expects to host 345,000 attendees, for whom an efficient public transport network has been designed. Line 8, a primary access to the Madring circuit, will operate with six-car trains, boosting its capacity by 50%. Stations on this line will have additional staff for traveler assistance and security.
EMT will complement the service with five free shuttle buses, using a fleet of 49 buses. These services will connect the circuit with key points in the capital such as Plaza de Castilla, Avenida de América, Metropolitano, and Canillejas, with frequencies ranging from four to seven minutes, adjusted to demand peaks.
The Regional Transport Consortium will launch a limited edition of 50,000 public transport cards for the event. These cards will be available at key stations including Sol, Gran Vía, Nuevos Ministerios, and Feria de Madrid, as well as major transport hubs.
The Community will also distribute a special Metro map dedicated to Formula 1, featuring the Madring circuit layout, recommended stations, and access routes. Customer service points will be set up at Feria de Madrid and Nuevos Ministerios to provide information on routes, fares, and mobility alternatives.
These customer service points will also serve as sales locations for Formula 1-inspired merchandise, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps that blend elements of the Madrid metro system with competition references.
