Construction of the new Multifunctional Center in Vereda de los Estudiantes in Leganés will commence next week, with an investment of 5,874,248.93 euros and an 18-month execution period.

The City Council of Leganés, through its PP-ULEG Governing Board, has awarded ASCH Infraestructuras y Servicios the contract for the works of the future Multifunctional Center in Vereda de los Estudiantes. The work will begin next week and will last for 18 months.
This new facility, with an investment of nearly six million euros (VAT included), will house a gymnasium, an auditorium, an exhibition hall, meeting rooms, spaces for entities and collectives, a multipurpose room, and a covered sports court.
The construction of this center responds to a long-standing demand from residents and associations in the neighborhood, who needed a modern facility due to the obsolescence of the old Azorín school. The decision to locate the new center on an adjacent plot will allow associations to continue their activities at Azorín, thus avoiding depriving the neighborhood of its only current cultural facility.
The mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, highlighted the importance of this project as part of the infrastructure renewal across all neighborhoods. "A space for residents to develop cultural, sports, and social activities," he stated, adding that it "ceases to be a promise to become a reality."
The building, which will be erected on a 7,145 square meter plot on Calle Málaga, will have two floors and a constructed area of 2,562 square meters. The ground floor will include the auditorium with audiovisual equipment, panelable multipurpose rooms, and classrooms for exhibitions and meetings.
The sports areas will comprise a gymnasium and a multipurpose court for indoor football and basketball, equipped with lighting and a light roof. These spaces will have independent access to changing rooms.
The new center is conceived as a hub for neighborhood meeting and integration, offering residents of the Vereda de los Estudiantes neighborhood a wider range of cultural, social, educational, and sports activities.
