The Leganés City Council has launched a new socio-family intervention service to support minors in situations of social difficulty, vulnerability, or mild to moderate risk of neglect.

The main objective of this initiative, developed by the Social Services Department, is to improve the coexistence of minors in their usual environments such as family, school, and neighborhood, promoting a positive and healthy social climate. It seeks to strengthen the bonds and social integration of minors and their families.
The Councilor for Social Services, Jesús Rodríguez, highlighted that the service is "an ambitious initiative that will allow us to improve the lives of vulnerable minors in Leganés, with interventions by social educators in their usual environments. It is the most practical way to understand their real situation and carry out effective intervention with families".
The program also aims to foster greater family involvement in their children's educational process, encouraging active participation and commitment. Furthermore, it will work to enable minors to move towards greater personal autonomy, overcoming limitations that may arise from their family or social context, and promoting their school, family, and social integration through positive changes in attitudes.
The intervention will be carried out by social educators, adapting to the specific circumstances of each family and the minors' life stage. Creative, active, and anticipatory activities with an educational and socializing orientation will be incorporated. These will be holistic, connecting the population's capacities and characteristics with their needs, interests, and potential. The intervention will combine individualized, group, and community actions, with key phases including diagnostic assessment, socio-educational project design, monitoring, and closure.
Specific objectives include enhancing parental skills, promoting minors' active participation in their own development process, facilitating their integration into their social and community environment, and driving comprehensive care actions for children and adolescents in coordination with the Family Team of the Social Services and Family Delegation, as well as participating in coordinated interventions among different municipal departments, external entities, and civil society.
Intervention in open environments will take place in everyday spaces such as streets, squares, parks, and educational centers to detect potential situations of violence, identify support needs, and facilitate access to available resources. Recreational activities are also planned, including hiking routes in the Sierra de Madrid, cinema sessions, cultural visits, and theme park activities.
