Getafe is positioning itself at the forefront of urban mobility with Mobility Week 2026, scheduled from September 30 to October 2. The event, organized by the City Council's Mobility and Transport department in collaboration with GISA and the Cluster of Innovation for Electric Micromobility (CLIME), will address two crucial topics: commuter transport plans, mandatory for many companies under Law 9/2025, and the challenges of electric micromobility for personal mobility devices and pedal-assisted cycles used for goods delivery.
The Councilor for Mobility, Carlos Enjuto, emphasized the importance of these issues for the city. The collaboration with CLIME will be formalized through an action protocol, approved by the Local Government Board on September 23. This agreement will facilitate the development of companies in the sector and promote cooperation to reduce carbon emissions and traffic congestion, at no cost to the City Council. The protocol signing will take place on Friday, October 2, as part of the ‘CLIME Summit’ congress at the Espacio Mercado, featuring innovation-focused presentations and roundtables.
In line with promoting sustainable transport, the Getafe City Council has agreed to extend the service of the last-mile logistics Microhub on Ferrocarril street by an additional year. This initiative, operational since March 2024 and a result of collaboration between GISA, the City Council, and Intelligent Parking S.L. within the European project Decarbomile, has registered nearly 3,400 users. The Microhub, designed for decarbonized distribution by cycles, reached a peak of 774 uses in March 2026 and averages 63 operations daily.
Mobility Week will feature various activities. On Wednesday, September 30, a Workshop on Mobility Plans will be held for local companies. On Thursday, October 1, an academic conference will take place in collaboration with the Corporation Universidad de la Costa de Barranquilla, Colombia, focusing on local circular economy and sustainable mobility projects, with participation from the School of Sustainable Mobility.
