The recipients of the 51 public housing units promoted by the Getafe City Council, through the Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV), on Paseo de la Estación, have started visiting their future homes. These visits mark the final stage of a key project within the Municipal Housing Plan, with delivery scheduled for November.
The mayor of Getafe, Sara Hernández, highlighted the happiness of the awardees and defended the municipal public housing model against privatization. She noted that rental units will remain part of the public housing stock, ensuring prices below market rates to help young people achieve independence.
The City Council is currently finalizing administrative procedures, including the responsible declarations for occupancy and garage operation, as well as the definitive public protection qualification.
The 51 units (28 for purchase and 23 for rent) are characterized by their high technical quality and sustainability, holding an energy efficiency rating of A. They feature aerothermal climate control, heat recovery ventilation, and photovoltaic panels for significant energy savings for residents.
Public rental prices will not exceed €13.77 per square meter for units averaging over 75 square meters, with property tax (IBI) not passed on to tenants. This contrasts with schemes from the Community of Madrid, which incur higher monthly costs and offer lower efficiencies.
