The eviction, carried out by the Social Housing Agency (AVS) of the Community of Madrid, led to a gathering of dozens of people who unsuccessfully attempted to postpone the action. The affected family is left without alternative housing, which has been described as evidence that current housing policies are far from guaranteeing the right to a dignified life.
The spokesperson and councilwoman for Podemos Parla, Carla E. Valero, denounced the "absolute lack of institutional sensitivity" in a situation that leaves minors "completely exposed and unprotected." According to Valero, reality contradicts constant statements about housing and social protection, as "they continue to expel vulnerable families from their homes without offering real solutions."
The councilwoman also criticized the "passivity" of the local government, composed of PSOE and Más Madrid. Despite a written request sent to the court two days before the eviction, no representative from the municipal government appeared at the scene to mediate with the judicial commission or the AVS and attempt to halt the execution.
“"The 'so-called left' cannot limit itself to taking photos or issuing statements while families are expelled from their homes. You have to be there, show up, and intervene politically to defend fundamental rights. But the reality is that they are neither seen nor expected."
The family, which includes a child barely two years old, was in a "vulnerable" situation and without an alternative place to reside after the forced eviction.
