The qualification of Voleibol Leganés for the Promotion Phase to the top national volleyball league, the Superliga, has been confirmed after the Sports Administrative Tribunal (TAD) ruled in their favor. This decision overturns a previous sanction imposed on the team for failing to appear at a match in Ourense due to a weather alert, which had initially excluded them from the competition.
The Leganés squad, which finished as runner-up in Group A during the regular season, will face the champions of Group B, Élite Voley El Rosario, and Group C, CV Guía, in the group stage. The primary goal is to advance to the semifinals and subsequently secure a place in the grand final, which would allow them to achieve promotion for the second time in their history.
“"We respect the other two teams, but we are going to go all out; the goal is to show everyone that we are not there by chance."
The team's preparation has been intense, despite the initial uncertainty. A club spokesperson noted that, although psychological fatigue was considerable in recent matches, the team's mindset is now fully focused on the fight for promotion. The strength of rivals, such as El Rosario, who had a remarkable season, and Guía, with experience in promotion phases, is acknowledged, but Leganés is confident in its ability to compete at the highest level.
Among the key factors for the competition, the importance of winning the first match is highlighted to approach the remaining games with greater peace of mind. Although the home advantage could play a role, the team is already familiar with the Quico Cabrera pavilion in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where they feel comfortable. The dream of having two Leganés teams in the Superliga next season, though challenging, is an additional motivation for the club and its supporters.
