The National Police have arrested two individuals in Alcorcón, Madrid, accused of marking homes with melted filaments to identify unoccupied properties for planned robberies.

The police intervention took place on April 17, when residents of Alcorcón alerted authorities to the presence of two men wearing caps and masks on the landings of several residential buildings. Officers quickly responded to the scene and, after searching nearby streets, successfully located and apprehended the suspects.
During the search of the detainees, police officers found various items in a cloth bag, including sticks, a lighter, and a knife. Additionally, it was noted that one of the individuals' jackets had traces of melted yellowish plastic thread, a detail that proved crucial in the investigation.

"This method would be used to check if the homes remained inhabited over the days and then proceed to rob them."

Subsequent investigations revealed that marks had been made on up to six homes in the building's entrance. These marks, created with a melted filament connecting door frames to doors, indicate that the criminals were using a method to verify property occupancy before committing burglaries. The National Police has confirmed the arrest of the two men involved in these incidents.
