CD Leganés has officially presented Rubén Albés as their new head coach, who has expressed his ambition to "be among the best" alongside the club.

CD Leganés officially welcomed Rubén Albés as their new head coach this Tuesday. The 41-year-old Galician manager, with a notable track record in Spain's Second Division after coaching teams like Lugo, Albacete, and Sporting de Gijón, was presented at the Butarque stadium. He was accompanied by the club's president, Eduardo Cosín, and football director, Andrés Pardo, who highlighted Albés as the ideal profile to lead the team in this new phase.
In his first press conference, the new 'Lega' coach cautioned about the league's difficulty: "Regardless of the names, the category is really tough. We have to enjoy ourselves, and to do that, we need to play good football. We have to be brave, which aligns with the identity Leganés has shown in its best moments. We need to focus on simple things, and from there, we'll work to develop."
Regarding objectives, Albés did not hide his aspirations: "The club wants to be among the best, and I want the same, but there are many good teams in this league." Therefore, he believes that "we will have to build a better team than them." He stressed that "none of the three teams relegated last year have managed to get promoted," and emphasized the need to "get excited again."
On the identity he aims to instill, he stated: "We are going to try to build a team, an identity, so that wherever we go, Leganés represents footballing values and personality." He added, "We'll have to see how the transfer market develops, as no squad is closed yet, and evaluations of where we might stand will be made once the squads are finalized."
Not a proponent of long-term goals, he indicated that the team's immediate objective "will always be the next match." "We know we have to be among the best, and we will do everything to be so," he conceded, while emphasizing: "I don't know any coach who thinks seven matchdays ahead. We will aim to be in the best possible shape for the first matchday and hopefully start with a win."
Finally, true to his combative character, he openly admitted: "I don't like weaklings. I don't like players or teams that get knocked down and can't get back up." He insisted, "So, we need to be a team that faces whatever happens with maximum energy. Spirit is important in teams."

"We are starting the market and there will be movement. Many of the players who have contracts will end up leaving, and many will end up arriving. There will be news soon."

During the Q&A session, Andrés Pardo, the football director, addressed the squad situation, anticipating "quite a few movements." "We are starting the market and there will be movement. Many of the players who have contracts will end up leaving, and many will end up arriving," he warned, clarifying that "we are calm and approaching the market with some situations already in mind. There will be news soon." Pardo stated they are "clear about who needs to leave and who needs to come in," with "several names per position and a clear direction," although he acknowledged that "this is a long process."
