Alcobendas Hosts First European 'Barbie Run'

Mattel's themed race, combining sport and fun, will take place on November 22nd with 10K, 5K, and walking categories.

Alcobendas is preparing to host the first European edition of the 'Barbie Run', a themed race inspired by the Barbie universe, organized by Mattel and AsDeporte, scheduled for next November 22nd.

The official presentation of the event took place at the Alcobendas City Hall, where the importance of this event, aiming to merge sport, fun, and excitement, was highlighted. Mayoress Rocío García expressed her enthusiasm for seeing Alcobendas "dress in pink to make history" with this initiative, which is expected to bring together residents and visitors for a festive day.
Alberto Tomé, Director General of Sports for the Community of Madrid, recognized Alcobendas, designated European City of Sport 2025, as a benchmark in organizing sporting events, emphasizing the achievement of attracting this international race.

The 'Barbie Run' promises a complete family experience, offering not only the race but also music, entertainment, photo opportunities, and merchandise related to the iconic character. José Reyes, director of AsDeporte, a co-organizing company with Mattel, revealed that following this edition in Alcobendas, plans are underway to expand the event to Portugal, France, and Italy.
The competition will kick off at 9 AM on November 22nd from the Ciudad Deportiva Valdelasfuentes. Three categories will be offered: a 10K race, a 5K race, and a 3-kilometer recreational walk. More than 5,000 runners are expected to participate.
Registration fees are 25 euros for the basic kit and 37 euros for the premium kit, plus handling fees. Discounts will be available during the first 48 hours or until 200 bibs are sold out. Registrations are open on the event's official website, www.barbierun.es, until the day of the race.
