Colmenar Viejo is hosting its 9th Animal Adoption Day this Saturday, September 19th, organized by the Department of Health and the ADAAC Association, at ‘El Mirador’ Park.

The event, running from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, aims to promote pet adoption and responsible ownership. It will feature over 25 animal shelters and associations from across Spain, showcasing animals seeking homes, along with solidarity stalls and various activities.
The Councilor for Health, Lorena Colmenarejo Argumánez, emphasized the exemplary solidarity work of the shelters and encouraged residents to participate to raise awareness about animal care and respect, particularly among children.
The program includes activities such as active dance, children's book signings with María José Rodríguez and Gabriela Dominguín, a paella sponsored by Catalysis, and a raffle of food and supplies for attending shelters.
Additionally, there will be a theatrical fencing exhibition inspired by ‘Star Wars’ by Versus Madrid, followed by themed activities with NGOs and a photocall. The Canis Fashion Week will present dogs aiming to find homes, and the Local Police of Guadalix de la Sierra will conduct a rescue dog demonstration.
The event will also feature a solidarity market, food and drink services provided by La Cantina de Misifú, board games with Jugando por Ellos, inflatables, face painting, a dog spa, and donation collection.
