The Community of Madrid, and specifically Móstoles, faces a critical situation regarding its blood reserves. The regional Transfusion Center has issued a maximum urgency appeal as six blood groups are in red alert, with reserve levels at 36% of their optimal point.
Blood groups 0+, 0-, A+, A-, AB-, and B- are experiencing the most significant deficits and require immediate donations to reach adequate levels. Other groups, such as AB+ and B+, are in yellow alert, also needing an increase in usual donations.
Reserves are currently at 36% of their optimal level.
Blood donation is vital for patients requiring transfusions after surgery, accidents, or as part of medical treatments. The process, lasting approximately 20 minutes, includes a health questionnaire and a brief medical examination.
The Hospital Universitario de Móstoles facilitates donations from Monday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Meanwhile, the Hospital Rey Juan Carlos offers this service from Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding holidays.
