Following a "difficult and considered" resolution, both councilors, who are part of the three-member municipal group in Leganés, have withdrawn from presenting a candidacy due to limitations imposed by Más Madrid regarding seniority for participation in internal electoral processes.
Poblete and Martín stated that, over recent months, they worked on "building a plural candidacy" which, they claim, "clashed with the restrictive and opaque internal rules" approved by Más Madrid in February of this year.
According to the councilors, these new guidelines have prevented approximately 30% of the individuals planning to run from meeting the "new seniority and participation requirements" established in the party's current Participation Regulations.
“"Collectively, we have not been able to build an organizational culture that is sufficiently healthy, open, and cohesive"
The councilors have expressed their disagreement with these limitations, which they consider contrary to their vision of parties as "more democratic and transparent," although they accept the organization's decisions with "absolute respect."
Poblete and Martín were among the 68 members who unsuccessfully appealed this "express regulation," arguing that hardening participation conditions and limiting the right to vote made Más Madrid an organization that was "smaller, less open, and less connected to the neighborhoods."
They admit that the decision stems from "profound political and organizational disagreements," both in substance and form, with a segment of the organization. They regret not having managed to "build a unitary candidacy" during their term and emphasize that "common projects must be above personalisms."
