The Popular Party of Parla has lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman, alleging that the City Council is denying them access to over a hundred files and reports, which they consider an "information kidnapping" by the local Government.

The political group has submitted more than a hundred information requests since 2024, without receiving any response from the City Council. These requests cover matters of relevance to public management and the interests of Parla citizens.
Among the requested documents are supporting invoices for municipal agreements, reports related to the regularization of squatters at a specific address, as well as technical reports on various investments made by the City Council.

"We have turned to the Ombudsman to help us with what we consider an information kidnapping and a barrier to our oversight work. It is key to guaranteeing transparency and the interests of Parla residents."

The right of councilors to access municipal information is protected by Law 7/1985, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime, and reinforced by Law 19/2013 on Transparency, Access to Public Information, and Good Governance. Both regulations establish the right of corporation members to obtain data and information necessary for the performance of their duties.
