Both projects, with a 15-month execution timeframe, will significantly expand the region's specialized educational offerings. The regional government also announced the upcoming tender for a third center of this nature in El Escorial, as reported by the regional government spokesperson, Miguel Ángel García Martín.
The future center in Móstoles will be located on Avenida Iker Casillas, on an 8,500 square meter plot, and will accommodate 100 students. The facilities will include classrooms for Special Early Childhood Education, Compulsory Basic Education, training workshops, adapted restrooms, a sensory room, a home economics room, multipurpose spaces, physiotherapy rooms, a psychomotor skills room, a infirmary, a gymnasium, a library, a dining hall, a concierge office, and administrative offices. The projected investment for this infrastructure amounts to 10.5 million euros.
Meanwhile, the school in Villaverde, in Madrid capital, will be built on a 13,100 square meter plot in the Parque Central de Ingenieros de Madrid. This center will offer 300 places and feature classrooms for Early Childhood Education, Compulsory Basic Education, a sensory room, a psychomotor skills room, multipurpose rooms, nine training workshops, and nine formative workshops. The investment for this project will reach 12.9 million euros.
With these new additions, the Community of Madrid now has 27 Special Education centers, in addition to 206 specific classrooms in 74 ordinary public schools, with 50 new ones incorporated this 2026/27 academic year. The expansion of resources also includes the enhancement of the CPEE Peñalara in Collado Villalba and ongoing work on the Vicente Ferrer center in San Sebastián de los Reyes and the María Montessori center in Parla.
