The new facilities will replace the current station on Empecinado street, the need for which became evident after the municipal corps integrated into the Community of Madrid Firefighters nearly two years ago. This development marks a significant step for service professionals and the city council.
The construction of a renovated station was one of the conditions set forth in the integration agreement. Both the City Council and the regional Executive have collaborated in identifying a suitable plot, prioritizing its location to optimize response times in critical interventions.
The pact, sealed between the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, and the Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior, Carlos Novillo, envisions a state-of-the-art fire station strategically located outside the urban center to facilitate rapid deployment of emergency vehicles and improve coverage in the area and surrounding municipalities along the A-5 corridor.
The urgency for new facilities has been a recurring demand. Firefighters themselves have repeatedly pointed out the deteriorating condition of the current station, calling it "a ruin" and demanding improvements to buildings, vehicles, and protective equipment. The opposition had also urged the Community of Madrid to expedite the project.
While the agreement represents the most significant progress to date, the project now enters a crucial administrative phase. Upcoming steps include defining the budget, the tender process for the works, their award, and establishing an execution timeline that will mark the commencement of construction.
