Móstoles is gearing up to host the II Cycling Grand Prix 'Ciudad de Móstoles' on Saturday, May 30th, a competition introducing a new route and categories, with a special focus on adapted and women's cycling.

The city of Móstoles will once again become a hub for Madrid's cycling scene with the celebration of the II Cycling Grand Prix 'Ciudad de Móstoles'. This event, scheduled for Saturday, May 30th, brings significant updates, including a revamped course, expanded categories, and a prominent role for adapted sports and women's cycling.
The competition is part of the programming for Móstoles, European City of Sport 2026, and is expected to attract around 200 cyclists from national teams. The day will feature events for para-cycling, women's cycling, and elite and U23 men's cycling.
One of the main novelties for this second edition is the circuit, which introduces a new 7.2-kilometer track. The start and finish lines will be located on Calle Desarrollo, the central point where much of the day's sporting activity will be concentrated.
The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, presented the event alongside the Councilor for Sports and Health, Ángel Álvarez; the president of the Madrid Cycling Federation, Diego Sánchez; and the race director, Iván David Vila. "Cycling returns to Móstoles. But this time it's special because it happens in the year we are European City of Sport 2026, of which we are tremendously proud," stated the mayor.
The day will commence at 9:00 AM with the para-cycling event, featuring categories for tricycles, handbikes, tandems, and adapted bicycles. Participants will cover 22 kilometers, completing three laps of the circuit. The winners in each category will be crowned new champions of Madrid.
Starting at 10:00 AM, it will be the turn of women's cycling, with routes adapted to different categories, covering distances of 28, 35, or 50 kilometers. Licensed female cyclists who win in each category will also be crowned champions of Madrid.
The elite and U23 men's competition will take place between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Riders will need to complete 12 laps of the circuit, totaling approximately 85 kilometers. This comprehensive day aims to make Móstoles a showcase for federated, inclusive, and competitive sports.
The City Council emphasizes that such events help position Móstoles as a sporting benchmark, attracting both residents and visitors. Mayor Bautista highlighted that initiatives like the Cycling Grand Prix 'Ciudad de Móstoles' also serve as "an important tourist attraction," impacting local commerce and sports-related economic activity.
The II Cycling Grand Prix 'Ciudad de Móstoles' is organized by CDE El Pelotón, in collaboration with the Móstoles City Council, through the Department of Sports and Health, and the Madrid Cycling Federation. With this event, Móstoles seeks to boost cycling, promote healthy lifestyles, and continue enriching its year as European City of Sport 2026.
