El Carrascal swimming pool in Leganés has undergone a thorough renovation over the past four months, including waterproofing and comprehensive improvements to its facilities for its imminent summer opening.

The Department of Works and Maintenance of Leganés has completed the waterproofing, improvement, and comprehensive renovation works at the El Carrascal swimming pool, preparing it for the summer season. The actions focused on addressing water leaks detected in the three pools (Olympic, half-moon, and children's), including the installation of new overflows and the renovation of existing lining.
The works involved chipping and waterproofing the expansion joints in the Olympic and half-moon pools, as well as replacing the showers in the footbaths. Additionally, new grouting has been applied to all three pools to prevent water infiltration and the lifting of ceramic tiles, ensuring the durability of the facilities.
The renovation also extended to the lawn area, with the replacement of the main irrigation networks for the grass and trees. Paving has been installed in the area before the footbaths to enhance bather comfort and prevent dirt from entering the footbaths, and new grass has been planted throughout the lawn. The changing rooms have undergone general cleaning and painting, and all equipment, including showers, air conditioning, benches, and lockers, has been inspected and repaired.
Complementary improvements include the installation of shading made of broom in the picnic area and the adaptation of tables in both the picnic and children's colony areas. Broom has also been installed on the facility's exterior fence, enhancing the overall environment.

"Residents will not only enjoy an environment for recreation, leisure, fun, and sports, but also a climate refuge for the high temperatures, which are imminent."

These improvements at the El Carrascal pool are in addition to the multimillion-euro investment planned for the Europa Sports City, another of the municipality's major sports facilities. This project, located in the Zarzaquemada district, will receive 4.2 million euros to address roof issues, replace the track flooring, and renovate glass panels in the pavilion and the winter pool.
