The investment, pending plenary approval, includes 2 million euros for infant schools and children's homes. Actions will be carried out in the children's homes Aventuras, Burbujas, and Los Pinos; and in the infant schools Dulcinea, Jeromín, Valle Inclán, El Faro, Las Flores, Koala, Primeros Pasos, Rosa Caramelo, and El Romancero.
Additionally, 3.2 million euros will be allocated to the climate control of twelve municipal centers. These include the Citizen Security building, the La Fortuna District Board, the La Fortuna and Olimpia Municipal Sports Centers, the Julián Besteiro Civic Center, the Rosa Luxemburgo, Plaza de España, and Las Dehesillas Municipal Centers, the administration area of the El Carrascal Pool, the José Saramago Cultural Center, the Rigoberta Menchu Theater, and the gymnasium of the Ramiro de Maeztu Center.
“"This is an ambitious and necessary project that will improve the quality of life for the entire educational community, children and teachers, and for the users of all municipal centers."
In infant schools and children's homes, older buildings currently only equipped with heating will receive wall-mounted air conditioning units. More modern schools, which have underfloor heating, will benefit from a highly efficient (A+++) aerothermal system that will also provide floor cooling. Furthermore, intelligent control and remote management systems will be installed to optimize energy efficiency.
For other municipal dependencies, such as theaters and cultural centers, a complete replacement of existing climate control equipment is planned to ensure greater thermal comfort and more efficient energy management. The Department of Public Works also intends to install textile covers in senior centers to create climatic shelters and enable outdoor activities during the summer.
In anticipation of potential geopolitical impacts and rising oil prices, the Department of Public Works has increased the gas and electricity supply budget by an additional 500,000 euros. This measure, combined with the new efficient equipment, will partially offset the increase in energy costs.
