Mexican-American businessman Jeff Luhnow has announced his departure from CD Leganés, a club he presided over since June 2022, following the acquisition of his shareholding by 885 Capital.

The outgoing president of CD Leganés, Jeff Luhnow, has announced his exit from the club through a letter shared on social media. His departure comes after his shareholding was purchased by 885 Capital, marking the end of his tenure leading the club, which began in June 2022.
In his farewell message, Luhnow expressed deep gratitude to the fans, whom he referred to as a "family." "It is difficult to find the right words to say thank you. And the first ones are for you, the fans. From the first day I arrived at the club and the city, you opened your doors to me and made me feel like one of this family," stated the businessman.
Reflecting on his management, Luhnow acknowledged that the first season "was not easy," but highlighted the promotion to LaLiga as league champions as a "most cherished memory" and "one of the most beautiful memories" of his life. He also recalled the image of the relegation day, with fans applauding the team's departure, a moment that made him "understand even more the greatness of this club and its people."
Regarding the last campaign, in which the team secured its place in the league, Luhnow took responsibility for the decisions made, admitting that "there have been decisions that were not right" and sincerely apologizing. "I humbly accept that responsibility, I am sorry," he declared.
The businessman also thanked the squad, club employees, the Board of Directors, and the city of Leganés. "Being president of Leganés has been one of the greatest responsibilities, but also one of the greatest prides of my life," he concluded.
Luhnow closed his message by wishing success to the new project and promising to remain emotionally connected to the club. "A new chapter begins for the club now," he noted, before stating: "I wish the best of luck to the new project, which I am convinced will achieve success, and which I will follow and celebrate wherever I am. I will always be one more 'pepinero'. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. ¡Aúpa Lega!"
