The Fuenlabrada City Council has reported that the event was caused by a "technical failure" that prevented the complete conclusion of the pyrotechnic show. Authorities are in contact with the responsible company to clarify the causes of the incident.
Eyewitnesses and local residents have described the event as an explosion followed by a fire near the fireworks launch site. Images of the incident have circulated on social media.

The mayor of Fuenlabrada, Javier Ayala, went to the Fuenlabrada Hospital to check on the condition of those affected. According to the mayor's statements, three of the four slightly injured individuals had already been discharged.
Ayala has also made all municipal resources available to the hospital if needed and thanked the healthcare staff for their "professionalism".
