The mayor of Humanes de Madrid, Óscar Lalanne Martínez de la Casa, has sent a new communication to the Ministry of Interior requesting the establishment of a main Civil Guard post. This demand, maintained by the council for over two decades, is based on the significant demographic, economic, and business growth the town has experienced.
In the letter, the mayor emphasizes the need to increase the presence of the Civil Guard in Humanes de Madrid, whose population now exceeds 21,000 inhabitants and continues to rise. This is compounded by the municipality's economic activity, featuring 39 industrial estates that solidify its position as a key business hub in the southern Community of Madrid.
The council highlights that this activity attracts a daily influx of workers, transporters, and visitors, thereby increasing the demands on public security. Furthermore, they recall that the municipality boasts a significant leisure area in the region, with a high concentration of people during weekends and special events.
Currently, Civil Guard services for Humanes de Madrid are provided from the main post in Arroyomolinos, which also serves Moraleja de Enmedio. The City Council notes that the combined population of these municipalities has grown from approximately 33,400 inhabitants in 2008 to over 66,500 today, nearly doubling in less than twenty years.
The municipal government believes this demographic and economic evolution has complicated security management in the area, justifying a review of the current service structure. "It is difficult to justify that a municipality with over 21,000 inhabitants, 39 industrial estates, and one of the largest business concentrations in southern Madrid continues to lack its own Civil Guard facilities," the communication states.
In its petition, the mayor proposes the creation of a main post in Humanes de Madrid or, alternatively, the adoption of measures to stably reinforce the presence of officers while such an implementation is studied. The City Council has reiterated its willingness to collaborate, including offering a municipal plot for the construction of future facilities.
Lalanne argued that this request "is not a political aspiration, but an objective necessity derived from the growth of Humanes de Madrid and the current reality of security services in the area." The council is hopeful that the Ministry of Interior will address this historic demand, which they assert is supported by the municipality's demographic, economic, and social evolution.
