Up to eleven homeless individuals have been sleeping in the waiting room of the emergency services at the Fuenlabrada University Hospital in recent weeks, as denounced by the municipal group Vox.

The situation, captured on video by the political party, has led to, according to Vox spokesperson Beatriz López-Roberts, "conflicts, coexistence problems, and a significant deterioration of conditions" for both staff and patients. The councilwoman also pointed to a "lack of hygiene" and warned of "drug dealing and attacks on security guards," lamenting the helplessness of healthcare workers.
Municipal sources have indicated that, in coordination with the hospital, they are attending the area "regularly." The individuals have been identified, and of the eleven who typically spend the night at the complex, three to four are registered residents of Fuenlabrada and are receiving attention from municipal social services.
The City Council is attempting to offer solutions and alternatives to prevent them from sleeping in the healthcare facilities. However, the council states that, as the location is within the hospital, "little more can be done" beyond attending if police presence is required, unless the center decides to evict them.

A hospital cannot become a place where homeless people go due to the City Council's inaction in this situation.

Beatriz López-Roberts has urged for the homeless to be attended to with "real social support and adequate resources, not institutional abandonment."
