Getafe City Council has opened talks with the Community of Madrid to assess the possibility of restoring two-way traffic on the livestock trail in Perales del Río.

The proposal is presented as an alternative to address mobility issues affecting residents in the neighborhood. Following restrictions implemented after the Filomena storm, the road was limited to a single direction and a speed limit of 20 km/h.
Municipal representatives held a meeting with officials from the Department of Environment, Agriculture and Interior to present the technical project. This plan, which was shared with neighborhood associations on April 22, seeks a definitive solution given the lack of other road alternatives in the area.
The estimated cost of the project is around one million euros. Although the infrastructure falls under regional jurisdiction, the local government has expressed its willingness to fund the work if necessary to expedite its implementation.
The cases of Galapagar and Villanueva del Pardillo have been cited as references, where criteria for livestock trails were updated in 2024. This regulatory change allows for reduced safety distances between users, providing sufficient space for two-way vehicle traffic.
