The Community of Madrid has authorized the restoration of two-way traffic on the livestock trail connecting Getafe with Perales del Río, a measure that will be fully funded and executed by the Getafe City Council.

The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior of the Community of Madrid has given the green light to restore two-way traffic on the livestock trail in Perales del Río. This decision follows a meeting between the mayoress, Sara Hernández, and the minister, Carlos Novillo, and an analysis of the municipal technical project.
The Getafe City Council will bear the full cost of the works, estimated at 900,000 euros, aiming to improve the neighborhood's connectivity and ensure dignified mobility for residents. The construction, which will require temporary closure of the road, could begin in late August.
The restriction to a single lane was implemented in 2021 after damage caused by the Filomena storm. The council awaits specific details of the authorization, including whether the permit is linked to the future construction of a roundabout on the M-301 and traffic calming measures.
The spokesperson for the PP in Getafe, Antonio José Mesa, welcomed the news, highlighting the "diligence and immediacy of the Community of Madrid" and assured that they will monitor the project to ensure it is completed "as soon as possible".
