Getafe City Council has invested 285,000 euros to transform the old walk-through fountain in San Isidro Park into a modern children's fountain.

The former walk-through fountain located near the hermitage in San Isidro Park has been completely renovated to become a modern children's water feature. This initiative, driven by the Maintenance department, involved a municipal investment of 285,000 euros.
The City Council has established specific operating hours for the new facility, which will be available from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This schedule aims to balance children's enjoyment with nighttime and siesta rest periods during the summer months, drawing on the experience of another similar children's fountain already operational in the city.
With this addition, Getafe now boasts its second children's fountain in the San Isidro neighborhood, following the well-received one opened last summer on Huelva street. The new fountain also joins existing ones in San Sebastián square and Arboleda street. The area is set to be enhanced with new street furniture, including benches for families.
Roberto Fernández, the Councilor for Maintenance, highlighted that this project is part of the municipal strategy to improve children's leisure areas, given the positive reception of similar installations.
This new fountain is part of the second phase of the San Isidro Sports Center project. This ongoing development aims to transform San Isidro Park into a larger, updated, modern, and accessible leisure and gathering space for residents of one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. The overall works, with a budget exceeding 8,500,000 euros, include the construction of the Gregorio Serrano football field, multipurpose rooms, changing facilities, and the relocation of the central offices for the Sports delegation. The football field, which will be named after a Getafe C.F. legend, has already had its foundation stone laid.
