The Getafe City Council will approve new technical criteria to streamline parking provisions for future infrastructure, prioritizing sustainable mobility and facilitating projects like the new Los Molinos Civic and Sports Center.

The municipal plenary session of Getafe will address the approval of new technical criteria that will allow for a more flexible interpretation of Article 170 of the Urban Planning General Plan (PGOU) regulations, concerning parking provisions for public use facilities.
This measure, based on sustainable urban mobility criteria, aims to facilitate the viability and legal integration of important projects, such as the future Civic and Sports Center in the Los Molinos neighborhood. The flexibility will allow for a justified reduction in the number of parking spaces that the norm would initially require based on its size.
The objective is to modernize local regulations to make them more logical and livable, adapting the number of spaces to the reality of the environment and prioritizing accessibility through public transport. The aim is to avoid an increase in vehicles in neighborhoods where feasible.
Following the approval of these criteria, the City Council will be able to adjust the construction of parking spaces based on mobility and traffic considerations. The required provision may be reduced and deemed adequate if the activity is located in the urban center and fully integrated into a high-capacity intermodal public transport network, such as Metrosur, Cercanías, or urban bus lines, as is the case in Los Molinos.
In this way, Getafe consolidates a model of dimensioned urban planning, taking into account the distances within the neighborhoods and the use of the new participatory and sports space by the town's residents.
