The mayor announced that the document presented by Getafe includes a history of acoustic measurements confirming the "unbearable impact" on the municipality. The technical report warns that the Getafe Norte neighborhood already suffers from acoustic saturation due to its proximity to the M-45, a situation that is "illegally aggravated" by macro-events at the Villaverde venue.
“"The data is devastating. It is not an opinion; it is a reality measured by technicians: this venue is incompatible with the health of our residents. Madrid cannot ignore that its licenses are causing Getafe residents to experience illegal noise levels inside their own bedrooms."
Local authorities have demanded the cessation of activities that do not guarantee strict compliance with the Noise Law. A criminal court is pending to judge the excess decibels in previous editions of the Madrid macro-festival. Getafe's objections are joined by those of the Stop Mad Cool Platform and the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid (FRAV).
The City Council emphasizes that Getafe Norte is already identified in the Strategic Noise Map of the M-45 as an area exceeding acoustic quality objectives. The combination of festivals with this highway generates "unsustainable sound pressure" that violates residents' right to rest.
Beyond Mad Cool, Getafe has highlighted concerns about the space being converted into a permanent fairground, which will include the construction of a stadium for concerts. This overexploitation represents a "direct attack on the rest and safety of more than 32,000 Getafe residents." The programming at Iberdrola Music has increased by 425% since 2023, from 4 festival days to 17 confirmed dates for 2026, anticipating mobility problems and the risk of thousands of people wandering.
Local authorities have demanded "the same treatment" that justice and administrations grant to other neighborhoods in Spain. It has been noted that the Community of Madrid's Road Plan 2025-2032 does not include any commitment for a possible pedestrian and cyclist connection between Getafe Norte and Villaverde, a measure requested to at least avoid traffic cuts. This inaction, according to the mayor, demonstrates the "clear will of the Community of Madrid to harm the residents of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos," by failing to introduce improvements for the venue and sponsoring the event with over one million euros annually.
