Representatives from the Getafe City Council and the Community of Madrid will meet on June 23 to analyze the situation of the Vereda de la Torrecilla, a crucial cattle track connecting Perales del Río and the center of Getafe.

The meeting, scheduled for June 23, will address the potential restoration of the double lane on the Vereda de la Torrecilla. This route, which links Perales del Río with the urban area of Getafe, has been a subject of debate and demands from the local government.
The Getafe government team has expressed optimism about the road regaining its two lanes but has also voiced concern over the delay in decision-making. For the municipal executive, the situation requires an "urgent decision" that should not be postponed until summer.

"Despite repeated complaints about the urgency to make a definitive decision and sign an agreement to restore two-way traffic on the cattle track, the counselor will not meet with the mayor for another seven weeks."

The city council has noted that this meeting follows several municipal requests for a definitive solution. The mayor's office had previously sent a letter requesting that the Community of Madrid fund the 800,000 euros needed to create the second lane. In that communication, it was proposed that Getafe would cover the cost if the regional administration declined the investment.
The Vereda de la Torrecilla is currently the only direct connection between Perales del Río and Getafe. The road was closed in 2020 after storm Filomena caused significant damage, and it was later reopened with a single lane, unpaved, and with speed bumps every 300 meters.
The recovery of the double lane is proposed as an alternative to the construction of a roundabout on the M-301, a project to be funded by the Community of Madrid. This link would connect the area with the Los Olivos industrial estate and the Los Molinos neighborhood, already within Getafe's urban core.
Five years after Filomena, residents of Perales del Río continue to experience communication difficulties. This situation is not limited to the road, as the Popular Group of the Madrid Assembly recently ruled out the arrival of the Metro to Perales del Río due to "lack of economic profitability."
