Maintenance work on the access points of the underground waste containers has commenced in the Naranjo-La Serna district and will gradually extend to other neighborhoods in Fuenlabrada over the next eleven months, weather permitting. The goal is to ensure the proper technical functioning and enhance the external appearance of these waste collection devices.
The Councilor for Sustainability, Environment, and Public Space, Soledad Martín, highlighted the importance of this work, emphasizing that the bins are in constant use 24 hours a day, which inevitably causes wear and tear. "That continuous use causes wear and tear and possible deterioration that are repaired immediately once detected," stated the councilor, who also recalled the periodic inspections to guarantee service to the citizens.
This initiative is part of a broader cleaning shock plan, with a total investment close to two million euros dedicated to the renovation of containers in various parts of the city. Furthermore, the municipal budgets for 2026 include a reinforcement of funds allocated to waste treatment and the care of public spaces.
