In the early hours of today, the National Police detained three individuals in Carabanchel. Officers intervened after receiving an alert from a neighbor who heard strange noises from the upstairs apartment. Upon arriving at the scene, the police caught the assailants in flagrante delicto inside the residence.
The detainees in Carabanchel were using socks as gloves and were carrying tools, in addition to various stolen jewels. Following the arrest, officers discovered marks on other homes in the building, used to verify the absence of tenants, according to a police statement.
Separately, on April 17, the National Police in Alcorcón arrested two other men. In this instance, neighbors reported two individuals wearing caps and masks loitering on the landings of several apartment blocks. Officers conducted patrols in adjacent streets until they located and apprehended the suspects.
During the search of these two men, several items were found in a cloth bag, including sticks, a lighter, and a knife. Furthermore, the jacket of one of the arrested individuals showed stains from a melted yellowish plastic filament. Subsequent investigations revealed that up to six apartments in the building entrance were marked with a melted filament connecting door frames and doors, a technique that, according to the investigation, is used to confirm the absence of occupants on successive days.
The National Police has confirmed the arrest of all five men, who are charged with home burglary offenses. All of them have been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
