The presentation, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, will feature the participation of the Culture councilor, Miriam Benítez. Attendees will have the chance to hear firsthand from the author of Patria as he unveils the intricacies of his latest literary creation.
Maite is set in San Sebastián in July 1997 and delves into the intimate life of a family during a period of great historical tension. The plot centers on Maite, who welcomes her sister Elene, returning from the United States after their mother's illness. The cohabitation between the three women unearths memories, silences, and unresolved family conflicts.
The novel intertwines this personal narrative with the political context of the time, marked by the kidnapping of councilor Miguel Ángel Blanco by ETA. This duality between the intimate and the public reflects the complex reality of the Basque Country in the 90s.
“"His novels are a very important account of our country's recent historical memory, and these types of encounters lead to conversations that allow us to remember our past and strengthen our democratic culture."
The presentation has been organized by Librería Fábula in collaboration with the Culture Department. To attend the event, prior invitation is required, which can be requested at the box office of the Teatro Buero Vallejo.
