The Hospital Universitario Fundación Alcorcón has drawn media attention after it was revealed that nearly 30,000 minor contracts were awarded in just three years. This practice, intended for exceptional cases, has raised questions about transparency and control in the management of public resources, particularly within the healthcare sector.
The controversy is exacerbated by the potential fragmentation of contracts to circumvent public tenders, reigniting the debate on the need for stricter oversight in procurement processes.
Alcorcón hospital awarded almost 30,000 minor contracts by direct appointment in three years and fragmented part of them to defraud the law.
Separately, Alcorcón's Avenida del Oeste is experiencing a complete traffic closure in both directions, between Los Cantos and Juan Ramón Jiménez streets. This restriction, which will remain in effect until Monday, April 20, at 08:00, is due to ongoing works and is expected to cause traffic complications, prompting advice for drivers to seek alternative routes.
Furthermore, the city commemorated the 95th anniversary of the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic, highlighting the Parque de la República. This 10-hectare space, located between Pablo Picasso and Institutos streets, houses a monument to Clara Campoamor, a work by Rafael Muyor, and remembers Carmen Pérez Lejárraga, Alcorcón's first female mayor.
