The family business Atrezzo Mateos, based in Alcorcón, celebrates over a century of history supplying props and set design for international film and theater productions.

Alcorcón is emerging as an unexpected hub for the international film industry thanks to Atrezzo Mateos, a century-old company located in the Urtinsa industrial park. Specializing in the creation, preservation, and rental of props and set design, this company has been a fundamental part of some of the most globally recognized productions.
Recently, the Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Miriam Benítez, and the Councilor for Employment and Training and President of IMEPE, Carlos Carretero, visited the facilities of this family business. The objective was to gain a close understanding of its activities and explore potential collaborations within the cultural and audiovisual sectors.
With over a hundred years of history, Atrezzo Mateos is a benchmark in Spain for film and theater props. Founded by Jesús Mateos and now managed by the fourth generation of the family, it has contributed to films such as Gladiator, Conan the Barbarian, Doctor Zhivago, the Indiana Jones saga, and Spanish classics like Viridiana.
During the institutional visit, municipal representatives toured the warehouse in Urtinsa, admiring original objects and pieces from shoots, including weapons from Conan, shields from Gladiator, furniture from Doctor Zhivago, and the iconic wardrobe from Viridiana.
Councilor Miriam Benítez highlighted the cultural and professional value the company represents for Alcorcón, emphasizing local talent in filmmaking and the importance of supporting culture as a profession. She noted that the visit opens new avenues for collaboration and raises the profile of a company that "has taken the name of Alcorcón around the world".
Carlos Carretero stressed the importance of engaging with the business community in Alcorcón's industrial parks, where a wide diversity of businesses can be found. The goal is to strengthen the connection between local companies and employment opportunities, fostering an increasingly diversified job market.
The history of the Mateos family is also linked to major international film awards. Antonio Mateos received an Oscar for his work on Patton, and Julián Mateos participated in numerous high-profile international productions.
Currently, Atrezzo Mateos serves cinema, television, theater, advertising, events, and museum projects, maintaining an extensive archive of thousands of objects. The company combines traditional techniques with new methodologies, playing a crucial role in preserving cinematic memory.
