The Alfarero squad, in need of points in this final stretch of the season, failed to convert their chances into goals and ultimately succumbed to an opponent who better capitalized on their opportunities. The defeat further complicates the team's standing in the league table.
In the post-match press conference, the Alcorcón coach expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the referee's performance. He stated that the refereeing quartet lost control of the game and criticized specific decisions, as well as the attitude shown towards the players.
“"It's a demanding category for everyone, and you have to be up to the level. We all saw how the match went and how much the refereeing influenced it."
However, the coach also made it clear that he does not attribute the defeat solely to the refereeing. He emphasized the team's self-criticism and acknowledged that both he and his players could have performed much better.
“"We didn't lose because of the referee, nor are we where we are in the standings because of refereeing. I know I could have done things much better; we are super self-critical, we don't make excuses, and we didn't lose because of the referee today, nor are we in our current position in the standings because of the referees."
Despite the challenges, the team will not give up and will continue fighting to secure as many points as possible in the remaining matches. The goal is to reach 56 points, with crucial games against Cartagena, Marbella, and Sevilla Atlético ahead.
“"I believe the team played well enough to win comfortably, but it wasn't to be, and now the goal is to get 56 points. Go to Cartagena to win, and then Marbella against Sevilla Atlético. The team is not going to give up, we have to finish as high as possible. We are good professionals and we have to compete fully in the three remaining matches."
