The town of Alcorcón has achieved in April the lowest unemployment figure for this month since records began, falling below 7,000 unemployed individuals.

According to data from the State Public Employment Service, which dates back to 2005, the municipality has registered a total of 6,919 unemployed people. This level had not been seen in an April month in the last two decades, despite the sustained population growth in the area.
Over the past year, unemployment has decreased by 358 people, representing a reduction of 4.92%. This figure exceeds the regional average, which stands at -4.44%. Furthermore, compared to the previous month, unemployment has decreased by 122 people since March.
The reduction in unemployment has been particularly notable among women, with 211 female residents finding employment in the last twelve months. By age group, the largest decrease was observed in the 24 to 44 age bracket, with 196 fewer unemployed individuals during that period.

"Unemployment has ceased to be the terrible factor of insecurity and uncertainty it once was. Today, access to work is the foundation for building the Alcorcón to live in that we advocate for."

The local administration has expressed pride in these figures, highlighting the city's role as a southern gateway for employment and new economic opportunities. It has been emphasized that access to work is fundamental for the municipality's development.

"The municipality will continue to promote municipal employment policies because they work."

Additionally, it has been announced that municipal employment policies will continue to be promoted, arguing that Alcorcón's results differentiate it from the rest of the region. This is attributed to public services dedicated to supporting job seekers, businesses looking to grow in the city, and opening new opportunities for the municipality's youth.
