The town of Alcorcón is gearing up for a series of events, including the Hybrid for María Race, a solidarity act to raise funds, and the postponement of the San José de Valderas Festivities due to weather forecasts.

This coming Sunday, May 10, Alcorcón will host the Hybrid for María Race, a charity event aimed at raising funds to improve the quality of life for a young woman with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome. The initiative seeks to finance the installation of a mechanical chair in her home, facilitating her daily autonomy. The race, which combines endurance and strength exercises, is designed for participants of all levels in pairs. Although registrations have already closed, it is still possible to contribute to the cause through donations.
On another note, the anticipated San José de Valderas Festivities have been postponed due to the forecast of rain for Saturday, May 9. The organizers have confirmed that this is not a cancellation but a postponement, and a new date is expected to be announced as soon as weather conditions permit.
Despite this change, the 46th anniversary of the San José de Valderas Motorcycle Club is proceeding with its original schedule. From Thursday, May 7, to Sunday, May 10, the esplanade of Los Castillos will host various activities. Thursday will kick off with the opening of the club's booth, welcome wine, and live music. Friday will continue with urban dance performances and a DJ festival. Saturday will be an intense day with a karaoke contest, DJ sessions, and live concerts. Sunday will conclude with a classic vehicle rally—motorcycles, cars, and trucks—with prizes for the best, a popular paella for a hundred people, and more live music.
Additionally, Alcorcón paid an emotional tribute to two firefighters who died in the line of duty during a fire last year on Los Lilos Street. The event was attended by family members, colleagues, and authorities, who remembered the firefighters' work. The mothers of the deceased, along with the mayor and the security councilor, unveiled a monolith. Subsequently, the flag was raised at the Unified Security Center, and a children's park in Darwin Park was named in their memory.
In the political sphere, a spokesperson for Vox in the Assembly of the Community of Madrid visited Alcorcón alongside the Vox spokesperson in the municipality. During their visit, both advocated for national priority and expressed their critical stance regarding the regularization of immigrants.
